International Organization for cooperation in the fields of health, research, treatment, transfer of know-how and the creation of a network of excellence to defeat blood diseases in the world
The Ime Foundation – Mediterranean Institute of Hematology – is an international organization for development cooperation in the fields of health, research, medical treatment, transfer of know-how and the creation of a top quality worldwide network to fight haematological diseases.
Founded on the initiative of the Health Ministry, the Foreign ministry and the Treasury Ministry as well as the regional government of Lazio, the Ime Foundation seeks to set up an international health network on behalf of countries where haematological disorders represent a widespread health and social problem, implementing an international program of treatment, training, research and transfer of know-how for these diseases, particularly thalassemia.
By virtue of its mission, IME's international project goes beyond development cooperation in the strict sense of solidarity and healthcare. It is also an important instrument of foreign policy, promoting the “Sistema Italia (Italy System)” with an unprecedented all-Italian initiative aimed at propelling the growth and improvement of foreign health structures in countries seriously afflicted by emerging haematological diseases, particularly thalassemia.
President: Ambassador Giancarlo Aragona
