  • Thalassemia Blood disorders and Thalassemia in particular (a genetic blood illness), although little heard of in rich industrialized countries, represents a growing health problem in all countries of the Mediterranean and Middle East areas; furthermore, thalassemia significantly afflicts populations of the Asian regions, in particular India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and southern parts of China.
  • Leukemia Leukemia is a tumor of the blood cells, characterized by an anomalous proliferation of the as yet unidentified stem cell. There are different types of acute leukemias, which are classified and recognized according to the type of cell affected and the speed of replication of these cells.

IME network

Aside from providing treatment, the IME Foundation also provides, when necessary, accommodations for the children under treatment and their families for the entire period of their stay in Italy.
At the moment there is not just one model of Hospitality; every IME center has made its own arrangements based on its location and the number of families to accommodate.
